Smile Metric? Imperial?... Who Cares!!!!

Went fishing today:
  • Filled up with 30 Litres of petrol
  • Drove about 25 Miles
  • Set up a 10 Metre pole
  • And a 12 Foot rod
  • Used 2ml pellets in a 20 gram feeder
  • Also used about 1kg of groundbait
  • And 1 Pint of maggots
  • Using 8lb line
  • Caught about a dozen carp up to 10lb
  • In approx 7 feet of water

European Union......No Chance.

Yes, and a good reason to sticking to that is that a pint is 0.568 litres -thats about six medium swallows (unless you have a mouth like this guy )

If ever we go metric in the pubs, the "equivalent" of a pint will be half a litre ie 0.5 litres, which is only about five swallows.

Bet we will still be charged the same price though. .

The Brewing Industry has a system all of it's own, a version of "Imperial" but based on "9".

Beer is delivered in a standard "Firkin" of 9 gallons or a "Kilderkin" of 18 gallons. Brewery capacity is measured in "Brewers Barrels" (1 barrel = 4 Firkins). God help anyone who tries to change the industry?

Unfortunately we do supply bottled beer in 500ml bottles although some do keep to the pint bottles (568ml).

... and when it's hot we measure the temperature in Fahrenheit, but when it's cold we measure it in Centigrade ... ;)

when cooking a steak one night at the restaurant the waitress ask me what was the difference between medium and rare , i told her medium was 6 inches , dropped my trousers and said .........rare is 9 inches ....sorry peeps
