| Re: Starting Carp Fishing This year Craig, How big is the horizon? There is a whole world out there about carp fishing. A. How big are the carp where you going to fish? B. It might be though going in the present weather conditions. C. What is the bottom of the reservoir like i.e. silky, weedy gravel. There are so many different ways of carp fishing, I would suggest you keep it simple to start of with. Bait....worms, sweetcorn, luncheon meat, pepperami are good winter bait. Depending on the size of carp in there 16-12" hair rig hooks,(for boilies and pellets) mainline 8-12lb again, hook length 6-8lb, again depending on the size of fish and conditions of the lake. Pellet and boilies (keep them small in winter)....fruity ones are good in cold conditions. Those are only a fraction of fishing for carp. __________________ There is certainly something in angling that tends to produce a serenity of the mind." - Washington Irving |
