Undecided. Matt Hayes Rod???

As you may have seen from my previous posts I need a good float rod for general fishing, commercial lakes, rivers etc. Just watched Matt Hayes video on float fishing for beginers and was wondering what the rods and reels that the company Total Fishing sells are like. Had in mind the 13' Grunt, Carp and Match 4-7 lb line, the rod he usues in the vid. Also the reels look quite good but hey, I know nowt. Looking for opinions on the Total Fishig Rods and reels. I'm not minted but his rods and reels seem very cheap compared to others I have considered.

Re: Undecided. Matt Hayes Rod???

I have only used the TFG Bait feeder reel and found it quite good value for money. Although it's impossible to get any spare spools for these reels as they don't sell them separately!

I did but my first float rod from Matt's company web site though,
http://www.fishtec-coarse.co.uk and found them top be very helpful and quick with the delivery!

I bought a Ron Thompson Panther Match rod for £20. Ron Thompson doesn't always get a good review (especially on this forum) but I have no complaints about the build quality or it's ability to handle any fish I've caught on it.

The TFG Multi spool reel looks quite a good vale for someone on a budget.

Re: Undecided. Matt Hayes Rod???

I am suprised Portland Pirate has'nt replyed to this post! (yet)
He used to supply TFG fishing equiptment, and it was very popular! For the price the quality was excellent. The rods always had good tip action (depending on the rod).
I think PP owns about six Matt Hayes rods. So I would PM him im sure he'd reply! I always enjoyed borrowing them!
