Re: what ever is it coming to Yep,it is for the eastern european xmas tradition to eat carp on xmas eve ,damned scary if you ask me,would be better if in australia, you get done by the police if you catch one and put it back, apparently they like you to kill them so I believe.

Re: what ever is it coming to Well if it helps in any way to stop poaching then ok i suppose. But i'm sure it will make it seem more acceptable to kill carp.

Re: what ever is it coming to I'm ready for the flak, but it does say "farmed carp",as in farmed rainbow trout, farmed sea bass etc.Does that make it immoral as they were brought into this country as a food fish originally. PS In this country is there another type of bass except sea bass __________________ 2 trips this year 0 blanks,7 whiting,1 flounder

Re: what ever is it coming to Have to agree with Tat, carp were introduced into this country by monks centuries ago specifically to be farmed for food. I know that eating a beatiful mirror carp that anglers spend hours trying to catch may not sit well with us, but I (sticking head above the parapit) only sea fish anyway, because I don't see the point (personal opinion) of trying to catch something that I can't eat. That isn't a moral stance or that I think freshwater fishing is cruel, but I just want to have something tangible at the end of a session.....doesn't happen often though!! I don't really think that this will put a dent in the poaching side of things. Why spend £5 a kilo when there is a lake up the road that you can get them for nothing, especially when it is not policed in any way really. You're right about Australia as well. They are classed as vermin over there, as they damage the native fish stocks (introduced by the europeans in the 1700's) so you are compelled by law to kill any you catch. Hefty fine if you don't. I wonder if their fisheries are policed better than ours? Just my two pence, don't bite my head off, Darren

Re: what ever is it coming to I think as long as its farmed and reduces poaching then its great . Why should Carp be any different to any other fish ![]()

Re: what ever is it coming to Totally agree. Why should it be acceptable to eat cod but not carp? Fish are a food source. I bet no one quibbles over which pig provided the bacon in their sarnie.

Re: what ever is it coming to As far as I know there are only Sea Bass in the UK or you may sometimes pick up a fish called a wreckfish or sometimes known as a Rock Bass. Where I live in Spain we have Black Bass, which are the same as the American Large mouth Bass.
