ADDITIVES - Do They Work? As winter sets in and the days are colder, fish are more elusive, so my attention is being drawn to the array of additives on the market. Have any of you guys had any success on a particular additive either fishing a commercial river or canal? I haven't really experimented with additives but feel now is the time to try. Any thoughts on this? __________________ Fishing is not just a hobby - It's a way of life

| Re: ADDITIVES - Do They Work? as it is only my second winter of fishing I am not sure if it true or not but I seem to have more luck when hunting Carp on a cold day by using curry powder or very spicy pepperami. I am also a great believer in hemp oil as an additive all year round. One thing I really want to try too this winter is chilli flakes as an additive, heard somewhere that it gives good results too. __________________ Life is brief and fragile. | Re: ADDITIVES - Do They Work? Ive found stuff from the kitchen good, Turmeric and Garam masala are favourites of mine sprinkled onto maggots and hemp. Garlic powder is worth a try on Luncheon meat for chub and carp! (makes ya fingers stink tho!) |

Re: ADDITIVES - Do They Work? Aniseed always seems to work well for me. I use it a lot because in Lithuania you can only buy white maggots but by feeding aniseed powder I can dye them bronze :) __________________ http://wandering-angler.com

Re: ADDITIVES - Do They Work? I find the juice from sweetcorn mixed in with your groundbait rather good, as does the sunflower oil from tinned tuna. (although the mrs is getting a bit fed up of me having little pots of the above dotted about the kitchen ready to top up when she is cooking) ![]()

Re: ADDITIVES - Do They Work? My friends and I have found that on our rivers (upper Lea & Great Ouse); once the colder weather is here the fatty baits (eg. Sausage, cheaper luncheon meats etc.) and Oily baits (eg. Halibut Pellets etc.) cease to leak out their flavours so much, and cease to be so effective, and other really smelly baits like 'Nice-n-Spicey', Chilli, Curry, Garlic etc. or baits which emit a strong attractant flavour trail into the current such as Lamprey etc. come into their own. __________________ My Web Site (The Average Angler) Happiness is Fish Shaped (It used to be woman shaped but the wifes getting on a bit now)
