John Wilson Avon Quiver

Hi all,

I have just started fishing again after many years in the wilderness, I was only ever a pleasure angler and never fished very often, so I am pretty much a beginner.

One of the rods I have purchased is the John Wilson Avon Quiver which I purchased online.

I have no issues with the rod whatsoever, but I do have a query I am hoping you guys can help with.

The website I purchased the rod from specifically stated that this rod no longer came supplied with the 2ft extension which took it to 13ft.

However, it would appear that it still does ... after all that ... now the problem ...

I am assuming the extension fits between the butt and the first section (the dimensions of the extension seem to dictate this) .... however, no matter how hard I try (although I am begin careful) I cannot separate the butt from the first section.

Is there a method/knack of separating the butt from the first section ?

Or ...

Have they supplied the extension even though it is not supposed to be used ?

Hopefully not too much waffling.

Thanks

Re: John Wilson Avon Quiver

The top of the butt screws down and holds the reel in place, I have fully unscrewed that piece.

That's the one, panic over, took both me and my son but we pulled and twisted and it came free.

Are there any recommended ways of maintaining these joints or is it simply "keep them clean" ?

Appreciate the help Wilza.

Re: John Wilson Avon Quiver

It might be woth putting some petroleum jelly on the joints, but a light film. this will help, however you will need to take care that little bits of grit don't get stuck, its worth wiping the joints down after a session then re-applying the jelly.
