Rigs tips and bait for UK Sturgeon!

Hi! I'm after some tips on sturgeon fishing, I caught my first ever sturgeon the other day! a small one (about pound and a half) on a float fished prawn on limpenhoe lakes Norfolk. When i go again i'm thinking of ledgering a chunk of Mackeral hair rigged over large Halibut pellets!? Anyone got any tips? I'm trying to avoid lots of carp & tench in the lake! there is one strurgeon pushing 10lb so I've heard,i would like to catch it, Would night fishing for them be best!?

Re: Rigs tips and bait for UK Sturgeon!

hello mate,
we had a few brushes with sturgeon during our french adventures this may,
fish to 35lb were caught ,but not by design, they were caught on boilies set out for the carp
it seems to me that they are more or less a bottom feeding scavenger that will quite happily mop up all the feed put out to attract carp.
i have heard that on some waters margin fished luncheon meat can be a killer for them
can't help you much more mate, best of luck when you go again
