| Any info helpful Just found out that the stretch of water on the Kennet and Avon river where we fish doesn't have land owners fishing rights. The owner wants the fishermen to cease fishing. Anyone know the legal position on this? Cheers, Mark |

| Re: Any info helpful The Stretch of river I keep on the Frome (Dorset), Is owned by Three different owners: Right bank owner/farmer 1 Left bank owner/farmer 2 River rights Tenant (since 1930s) We have to have permission to fish and work from either bank, from Farmer 1 & 2. I think there is a techinical leeway of 3 metres from bank edge in which to fish! This will differ to each river access! Both Land owners have full say over access, although the Tenants must have available access to fish. If the water you are fishing doesnt belong to a club/ Private fishing syndicate or tenant, the land owner has full right to stop fishing. I would presume! This may not be applicable to your stretch, but Im sure either Land registry, or local Council might help, maybe even a quick ring to your local Environment Agency office. I doubt this has helped your cause! Have to be vague due to the complex rights over fishing! |
