where to fish for......

I am looking to target these 10 fish over the next 6 months for so coarse fishing points in the species hunt, my partner John ( monkey nuts ) is doing an outstanding job on sea fish and I need to pull my weight on the coarse side.

BARBEL
BITTERLING
BREAM (silver)
CARP (grass)
CATFISH (bullhead, black)
ZANDER
CHUB
DACE
STICKLEBACK (3-spined)
CATFISH (wels)

We have a catfish meet organised for september so that hopefully will be one off the list, the stickleback was a nasty one last year I believe, but some of the others should be easily achievable but as a relative novice some guidance on good places I can fish on a day ticket to target some of these would really be appreciated.

Thanks

Mike

Top local spot for Barbel is the Hampshire Avon at Christchurch. The Bristol avon at Limpley Stoke is also good. I'm hoping to organise a Forum Barbel meet at Hampton Lode on the River Severn sometime this year.
I've never seen a Bitterling.
The K&A Canals full of Silver Bream.
Grass Carp may be tricky. If you know of anywhere stocked with em let me know.
For Zeds, I think we should have another trip to the Sharpness canal.
For Chub & Dace, try the Free town water at Bradford on Avon
I've seen some good sticklebacks in the stream that flows through the beer Garden of the George pub at Longbridge Deverill.

well that looks like 4 forum meets organised

I have seen Grass Carp I think at a fishery I visited last year but I cannot remember the name, I was very novice then and wondered why these carp were long and thin and did not seem interested in out baits, they were visible cruising on the surface in very shallow water.

the George looks the most likely to get a good turn out, knowing the passion for liquid refreshment from the members on this forum.

shall we get some dates organised??

I was thinking that I might pop down to Revels Fishery and try for the dace as it appears in his list of fish. Might make a weekend of it and camp over and have a few beers if anybody else fancies joining me?

Mike

Re: where to fish for......

I can't really commit myself to any dates until i've finished the work on the house. I think you have a better chance of a Dace on Running water. I do happen to know a fishery not a million miles from Revels that contains Catfish & Sturgeon though.

Devon Born & Dorset Bred is on a distinguished road
Re: where to fish for......

If thats Revels Fishery in Dorset, Then the Pike lake holds a number Grass carp. I was with Portland Pirate in 2005 fishing there when he caught a huge Grassy on Halibut pellet (20mm).
Unfortunatly no overnight fishing is aloud on the Pike lake!
