Wilson 6 Shooter

Evening All
Just bought a John Wilson Six Shooter
I now know why it’s so named. You have to make 6 attempts to cast more than 5 metres with out a birds nest!
This is the first experience with a multiplier and I was rather disappointed with there being no instructions with the reel apart from a diagram what would be fine if I wanted to take the reel apart (to unravel birds nests?), that at least help me to name the parts.
Can someone tell me how to set this reel please?
On the left is the Star Drag. Which I know controls the drag
Again on the left is a small brass button with dots around it from small getting larger
Also on the left is lever mysteriously called the “Flipper Lever”! Nothing to do with the famous Dolphin I guess
On the right is a dial called a control dial. Controls what? This also has dots from small to large.
Regards, David

Re: Wilson 6 Shooter

cant help too much as not got the 6 shooter

but guessing by using other multis that the two controls with dots control the rate/speed of the spool

you want to tighten these down until the lure you are using falls at a useable rate, slow to start, guessing the control is the main setting know here

as a note the faster you alow the lure to drop the more chance of a birdie, so tighten right up and try again

hope this helps sure someone will come along with more advise soon

Re: Wilson 6 Shooter

Hi PINGU
Thanks for your help
Took the reel back to shop they replaced it as it turned out to be faulty. Which was a relief as I was becoming to think I was a complete “plonker” not just a little thick.
Tight Lines, David
