Not caught a Shad for years. Used to catch em on the Monnow. Not sure if they were the Allis or Thwaite variety though. They looked & fought like turbo charged herrings.

Sounds fun. The Usk's not too far from me. I've fished it a few times up near Senny Bridge. Only caught small Brownies though.

Smile Re: Wye and USK

Good Morning

Don't want to be a gooseberry but the Usk is not far from me either and I'd love a return match.

We went to fish there last year.

As usual, on one of my fishing days, it was just starting to rain as we left Gloucester.

We were diverted off the motorway, which had been closed by the Boys in Blue due to flooding and Usk town centre it was completely under water!

Just call me Jonah.

Come to think of it you might not want me there after all.

Cool Re: Wye and USK

Yes it's a great foundation. At the Bristol Fly Dressers Guild we had a talk from one of the founding fathers of the charity and I must say he was very impressive.

They have achieved a huge amount in the last few years by opening up the rivers and repopulating the magnificent river Wye and its tributaries.

Well done to them
