Thames question?

Does anyone know the exact point on the Thames where it becomes not neccessary to have an EA fishing licence and closed season restrictions don't apply? I'm just looking for somewhere to go over the next couple of months to to get a bit of practice in with my spinning rod and check out how a couple of new lures swim before I head to the coast with it when the warmer weather arrives. I'm sure the dividing line where the river is considered to be tidal is somewhere east of Teddington lock but not sure exactly where. The stretch of river that I'm thinking about doing a bit of casting practice on is between Kew and Teddington.

Thanks.

Re: Thames question?

Quickest way is to look on an OS map - it will show "NTL" which is Normal Tidal limit and the river on the sea-side is the sea bit - nearly always at the first main bridge !
Not sure about the Thames - dont think the QEII bridge counts though !

Re: Thames question?

Thanks maghouse - I'll check out the OS maps. I was trawling over the fishing section of the EA site which lists the restrictions that apply to various fishing locations around the country but could find no mention of the Thames east of Teddington.

Re: Thames question?

It could be Teddington is the 'NTL then ?
I know the EA dont mention 'sea waters so if they dont - it means you can !

Re: Thames question?

Thanks mate I just found it myself on the OS map - I actually wouldn't mind buying a licence - that's not the real issue - it's just that it would be great if over the next couple of months during the closed season I could just hop the tube out to Richmond and wander along the river geting in a bit of practice with the spinning rod without having to worry about any hassle. It would be good to know for sure. I was going to email the EA but couldn't find an email to a help desk on their site.
