Food for thought

Well i,m off for a 2 night session today.
I can sort out all the fishing gear at the drop of a hat but the biggest headache i get is deciding what food to take to keep me going.

Has anyone got any tips for any easy meals that they can cook while fishing i get fed up with pot noodles and biscuits and crisps.

Re: Food for thought

make up a stew with everything in before you go then just needs a reheat in pan

same goes for a curry/chilli etcand whilst heating throw in the noodles or pre cooked rice
there are many dried pasta dishes at tesco etc
or any tins really as just ned reheat

sausages/bacon butties etc

loads you can do as long as the alarms dont keep you too busy

or if you really arent a cook look in a good outdoor shop there are loads of good quality(I dont mean vesta) meals that only need boiling water
enjoy

Yeh, you cant beat a chilli or curry when you are fishing....i normally take a baguette to have with it.

If i havent made anything up,the night before i will have take away and order something extra for the days fishing.....dont knock it before you try it!!!

Talking Re: Food for thought

I always go for M&S ready meals no preparation needed, but carrying the generator and Microwave is a bit scary

Seriously though when I used to go out for long sessions i'd always go for a "one Pot" kind of meal and chilli or stew with rice is ideal......just remember the toilet paper!

Have fun Rob catch a big 'n

Re: Food for thought

How about smoked salmon with cream cheese on some nice brown bread with a dash of lemon to start with.
You could then have roast sea bass with french beans and vanilla.

For pud i d normally go for something good and stodgy like jam rolly polly but a nice dark choc mouse should finish it off.

Or you could take an american MRE meal that heats itself in the bag,i m sure you can get them from outdoor shops.
There pretty shite after 3 months but not to bad as a one off

Re: Food for thought

Ration packs! i remember these well from my army cadet years. if you could buy them they are like, the best thing ever for outdoorsy kind of things. there are boil in the bag meals that taste rather nice for a change! they have chewy, biscuits, drinky powder, tissues, basically everything foody u need for 48 hours in the field! all i needed in the middle of a field somewhere in devon, near wyke regis training camp, was a hexi stove and a mess tin if i wanted to eat (avoid fruit dumplings or face penalty of death )
