Specimen fish I hear the term specimen fish used quiet often, but what actually is the definition of a specimen fish? It would seem to be about half the weight of a record fish. Just curious. Mike

Re: Specimen fish Good question Mike i don,t actually know that there is an answer. Maybe it could be judged by how much pleasure a particular fish gives to it,s captor. But if there is a guide i bet your not far off the mark with a fish that would weigh 50% of the record. robm

Re: Specimen fish yes there is no real cut off point for a specimen but commonly its half the record weight example zed record 19lb 5oz a specimen would be 9lb 10oz or above . but i would think it would be better to judge it on the water you are fishing cause if lets say you had carp in you lake and the biggest was about twenty pounds a specimen would be 10lb for that water . tightlines kevin ![]()
