| Re: feb 2010 FOTM winner Record for a perch is 5 LB 15 OZ . 3LB 13 OZ is approx 64% of the record. Now in those terms it sounds like I am saying it isn't a big perch, I am not, that's a bloody monster well done. I think it's hard to tell what a specimen size is as it depends on so many factors. 2lb + I'd say for a perch. 3lb+ is awesome. Nearly 4 is stunning! __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk |

| Re: feb 2010 FOTM winner Quote:
Wyvern division sizes are here For instance, the specimen size for Bass in our area is 8lb. If I catch a 4lb Bass that's obviously 50%. If I catch the same fish in Dorset (Area D), it's got a 9.5lb specimen size so the fish is only worth about 42%. In our comps, we calculate the percentage of specimen size and add it all up to give us a total score. (Imagine how gutted I was to learn this last year having caught an 8lb just inside Dorset and thinking I'd got a specimen )Don't the Angling Trust do the same thing for fresh water fish? ![]() __________________ Right then, checklist: Rods. | Re: feb 2010 FOTM winner I'm not aware of any "official list" and have looked at the angling trust website. The thing with coarse fish is that some records represent fish just a bit bigger than commonly caught and others are way over what just about anyone is going to see. So a 2 pound roach or rudd is a specimen in my books but might not be to someone who fishes a syndicate water where they are common. Interesting thought though, anyone else seen anything ? __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk |
