Tompot blenny

This little feller took my bait when I was after a sea scorp for the species hunt. Unfortunately Tompot Blenny is not on the list. (perhaps for 2007?)

Note the difference from the shanny (common blenny)

Red "tentacle" over each eye
Red-orange lips and inside mouth,
Red rays on pectoral fins
Higher dorsal fin than shanny, with dark bands on the fin.
Eye iris not red (it is in the shanny)



....and I didn't get the sea scorp, but had fun nevertheless.

pretty neato! We have something similar but it's called a "Hogsucker" or some type of goby.
