Red Scorpion Fish

Just to let you know that I have caught Red Scorpion Fish at Portland Bill. I caught it last year but did not have a camera with me. It took me ages to identify as they are not usually found in UK waters. I have seen them recently when snorkelling and am now trying to catch another one so I can photograph it. See http://web.ukonline.co.uk/aquarium/p...rpionfish.html

They can be caught using standard float tactics and ragworm.

Re: Red Scorpion Fish

Hi Jon Good luck with your Red Scorpion Fish hunt.

I'm sure you know (but others who might catch one may not) that the spines are venomous - not usually lethal, but very painful - may put you in hospital.

Scorpion Fish (found throughout the tropics/sub-tropics) are a different group to our own "sea scorpions" which might spike you but are not venomous.

Use a thick rag for handling Scorpion Fish and take care
