i went but did not conquer

ok as promised i finally got out to try and do some sea fishing .
i decided to go and have a look at cromer and if i did not fancy cromer fish at a deep water mark called weybourne i aerrived down at cromer and stop at the local tackle shop to hopefully get some lugworm which after all that need not have worried as they had spare so . got a 100 ,
i all got a mackeral to use so now i had lug, mack, squid . some mussels and some dodgy frozen peeler so i felt i had myself a good array of baits for my session .
after a chat to the shop owner it was decided that fishing the pier was not really an option as it had been fishing really badly and he also reccommended that i went to weybourne .
once i arrived at weybourne i had to park in the pay and display and pay £3 for the 5 hours which i personaly thought was scandalas .
i was soon standing on the shingle bank looking out to the sea thinking where do i start so i decided to fish to my left as the beach kind of swung into a bay like area .
rods were set up and i was soon standing behind them watching for signs of activity .

an hour and a half soon went by and a few recast had been done due to the crabs taken my bait ands this was given me about 15 minutes to get a fish to get interested before the crabs were stripping it bear .
it was a funny sort of conditions with a very light north easterly breeze and a fair bit of sea mist making it a bit cold .
another hour past and no bites had been forth coming but a few rasping nibbles from the crabs certainly had been, and i was starting to think i was going to be feeding the crabs all day then suddenly a good knock on the rod and i was sure this was no crab i watch really intently and waited patiently for it to go again but no it stayed stationary so i reeled in and re-baited and recast it about 20 yards shorter as the tide was reaching the top . once again i waited and about ten minutes later the rod knocked confidently and then another knock i picked the rod up and leaned back and reeled but could not feel any thing but i was confident i had something and sure enough as it got in the breaker a little dab or flounder i do not know which .but sure one of you eaagle eyed amongst you will know.
i unhooked it got a piture for the extra half a point to go with the point for catching it for the species hunt and then released it .

i was happy now least i was not going to blank so i start to get confident that more fish would now follow as i was now up and running but the next good knock i got turned out to be a good sized eadible crab that cromer is famous for .
but alas no more fish came and as the tide ebbed so did my confidence but you know what i did enjoy it i tried a few different combinations of baits on my two hook rig set ups .
so i felt with my limited knowledge and lack of understanding of tide movements and where fish would be that at least i did not blank so i felt ok about it but you know i really would not have minded if i had .
i will be going with a mate next time on next thursday evening ,

Re: i went but did not conquer

Excellent report mate and welcome to sea-fishing! Welcome to numerous blanking sessions, stinking of squid and mackerel and extortionate pier fees. You'll love it! By the way, thats a dab
