| Orford Island Hi, im going to Orford Island at Aldeburgh, Suffolk this Friday (13th) (unlucky for some!!!). There is me and three mates going for an all night session. Going over at 3pm and getting picked up at 7.00am next morning. Ive never been before but have heard good things, very deep water apparently, also reports of double figure cod being caught around that area. Has anyone got any info on this place? Will post an update after the weekend hopefully with reports of some decent fish! Spacemonkey |

| Re: Orford Island Hi Spacemonkey Most head for the Martello tower on the right hand side of the town as you enter Aldeburgh, turn right at the first junction, go down the high st as far as you can where you will see the Martello Tower, car park on the left with toilets or you can park by going around the tower to the right side and park on the shingle beyond there. High tide about 2300hrs I think? 2 choices here: 1/ Walk away from the town along the headland as far as you are able (better fishing that area). 2/ Or stay near your vehicle. Beware the shingle is soft in various places, a few non 4 wheel drive vehicles get stuck. Hope thats of some help. Good fishing. Look forward to your report Sat regards Namraj ![]() |

| Re: Orford Island Thanks Namraj, i have fished the beach at Aldeburgh quite a few times, its probably the way ive written the thread but i was after any info regarding Orford Island itself, we are getting a boat over to it so wont be near the tower. From what i understand its alot futher along than the tower. Its more like an extension to sea rather than an island. Its about a 12 mile drive with a 4x4 from the boat yard apparently, so its easier to get a boat out there. Do you know anything about it? Cheers Spacemonkey |

| Re: Orford Island Sorry for confusion (on my part) a bit early in morning. Yes its much easier using the boat. One point to remember is to wear wellies on the boat, as its a bit dodgy getting on and off the island where the boat drops you off, it depends where he drops you though, best to ask him before leaving.
