BIG BASS off Cromer Pier

My mum and dad were down the coast today, and stopped by a man to see if they could take a photo of a fish he caught.

It was a big bass apparently. My mum said 25lb ( I highly doubt it) but my dad said it was really long, and thick. I'm guessing mid double.

Still, what a fish!!

No, it was with the blokes camera. My dad takes his camera everywhere, but today he took his binoculars

The bloke caught it yesterday, and took it for his tea, so you'll have to catch it's brother

Re: BIG BASS off Cromer Pier

I know they normally get quite a few biggies off the pier, the trouble is trying to get them away from the piers structure (legs/frames etc..)

Re: BIG BASS off Cromer Pier

Have been to to Cromer today, had one codling, bout 1lb, 2 small bass, a flattie and a pouting. Not much else coming off, saw a small eel. plenty of crabs. Someone said that there had been a 12lb bass of there last week so weather that is the one your parents saw.

Re: BIG BASS off Cromer Pier

Could have been Gareth, I highly doubt it was 25lb like my mum said

Still, well done on catching, a few species there

1 reason I hate fishing Cromer Pier, is the snags and crabs (and crabbers ) But that obviously attracts the big bass.

Do you cast out from the pier or down the side, as I believe that's where all the big bass are mate, as they hang around the pier legs/structures etc..

Have you ever tried feathering for mackerel there?

Re: BIG BASS off Cromer Pier

No, i cast straight out, i think i will lose to much tackle if i cast against the pier legs. Well the only reason i go off the pier is the Wife likes crab fishing, and takes the kids. (even caught a rocking today)

Havent tried feathers for mackeral yet, but will give it a go one day.
