fished the dirty wall last night (20th dec) and the town beach the week before! very poor show of fish at the mo, my buddy had a small 3lb codling at the wall ( his only bite all night) and i had tonnes of small 4 inch long codling and dabs both on my trip to the wall and to the town beach but nothing worth while very slow fishing here !!!!!!!!!

Re: aldebrough

I have read that the fish are at distance at Dirty Wall. Is this the case? I always wonder where the press get these yarns from. I have always caught fish close in.

Re: aldebrough

i fished every distance from 10yrds - 120yrds it didn't seem to make any difference? the codling came at around 75-85 and the rest were all at around 50-80 yards the tide pull there makes fishing at distance very difficult

Re: aldebrough

was there any red weed? I will have a session over xmas, It looks like it's hard to get a take home in that lot, then again small Cod will hopefully grow into something bigger. Is the flood tide still the best to catch in?

Re: aldebrough

the weed was starting to show on the tide up there was none at the top then lots on the way down!!! some of the dabs were legal size but they didn't have much meat on them the codling on the other hand had the biggest belly id ever seen it was full of shrimp, crab and small fish (possibly sprat) fishing here is really slow at the mo!!! no cod anywhere and surprisingly there's hardly any whiting? dunwich to southwould is meant to be fishing better for flatties and bigger whiting i think i might give one of them a go tomorrow as i have 90 worms left from last night!

Re: aldebrough

Personally I would try Pakefield for Dabs, close in on flapper rigs or my long trace rig I use has been successful
It can be snaggy so if Codding I would use a pulley rig, weed is minimum too. Larger whiting have been coming to mackeral strip.
