SANDOWN(deal) 4th DECEMBER Phoenix dolphins sa last comp of the year, was still in the balance on the 3rd december, with deep snow and freezing temperatures, but overnight rain and a rapid thaw everything was ok, but alas with the snow and cold some had chosen not to venture out, Arrived there 17.30 just a gentle breeze from the sw and a few drops of rain, but this was not to last as it absolutely p1ssed down all sodding evening, made me think at one point, were the others right in staying in a nice warm house, N O i wanted to fish sod getting wet n cold lol To the fishing, first cast resulted in a 1lb 13oz dog fish, made me think it was gonna be a good evening, it was in a weird sort of way, next 3 casts resulted in 3 sizable whiting, then 2 undersize, then hook a biggie and spotted what looked a coddie in the breakers that made a dash back to sea taking line, i slowly stopped it, alas it dragged me into a snag and when retrieved, no cod and no bottom hook, ffs was i annoyed lol, but then had a nice dab, some slugs, more whiting, finished with 9 whiting, 2 dogs, 2 nice sized dabs, 3 rockling and the countless others undersize returned, ended on 7lb 8oz at the weigh in, and was second by 1 1/2 oz, oh for that coddie lol, did collect the pool for the biggest fish though with that very first cast doggie, was well happy to be home in the dry by 1am, sorry no pics, raining to sodding hard lol ![]() ![]() __________________ https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/122835604396392/ Proud supporters of the RNLI Dover Lifeboat http://www.dover-lifeboat.org.uk/index.php

Re: SANDOWN(deal) 4th DECEMBER loosing fish guys is all part of fishing, and getting out trying is more important regardless of weather, with an added bonus of all in the club being good mates, weven though before the club started few knew each other, but thats what were all about, letting anyone come along for the craic, adds and added bit of fun, so its all good __________________ https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/122835604396392/ Proud supporters of the RNLI Dover Lifeboat http://www.dover-lifeboat.org.uk/index.php

Re: SANDOWN(deal) 4th DECEMBER Happy days mate .. sounds like it was worth all the 'effort' getting out there ..I am a big advocate of the 'sod it' rule .. Reminds me of one year fishing the weymouth species comp .. i had nearly 40lb of bullhuss and came second by 6 ounces .. i did however see a nice fat doggie spit my bait out at the side of the boat - ' get the F****N net was the shout from the skipper lol .. ah well . as you say thats fishin .![]() __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting
