What to do

Had arranged to fish Walmer with a friend and my son who is a relative novice at the sea fishing game, arrived at the venue around 17.00, to be confronted by an onshore wind and a nice surf, now for the what to do part, me and my mate loved the look of it, but then thought about my son who would never ever be able to cast into that wind, so a quick jump back into the car to go somewhere with the wind behind us, was it to be Rotunda Folkestone, Hythe or Sandgate maybe, nope for some reason we plumped for closer to home and Shakespeare beach in Dover, pleasantly suurprised wind behind us perfect for my son, so off we went fishing, whiting, pin whiting, then channel whiting (yummy dinner lol), dog fish to 1.5lb and the mrs loves them, then my mate hits into dabs, pout, so not a bad evening only thing missing was a codling or 2, oh and my son managed whiting and a dog

Rigs

1 x 3 hook flapper with 1/0's
1 x pennel with 4/0's

Bait

Bluey
Squid
Blacks
Rag smartbait

Fish caught

8 whiting 4 dogs

Opinion

Pleasantly surprised at Shakespeare beach, never fished it in October before, but caught 4 species, dissapointed about not fishing Walmer though, the sea there was a lovely dark colour

Re: What to do

i was in by 23.00, reels washed, ting filleted and dogs skinned by 23.30, real easy to take a dogfish's coat of mate.

she just plonks them on an oven tray, squirt of lemon or some herbs n pops them in the oven, or i get made to make some batter n throw them in the deep frat fryer, me im not keen on them but she loves huss so munches them, my choice is nice little fillet of whiting thats y i dont mind catching them,

Shakespeare beach i prefer fishing May and June, get bass, sole, gurnard, bream then
