| Hi, I have only just started sea fishing, went to Hopton this weekend and bagged 5 whiting (none big though). Can anyone tell me if it matters how far you cast for the cod? I'm around 80-100yds with a thump cast but that was my first session, everyone seemed to cast pendulum and further, but I caught as many as them, just not big ones, should I be casting further or is it the luck of the draw really. |

| Re: Hopton fishing info Hello, You will find that everyone is trying to cast their end tackle out of sight. This does at time give you the edge, but I beleive just as inportant are the things like get your tides right fish the more powerful tides like the 2.6 metres etc, look at the air pressure and try to aim for low pressure below 1000 mb and have the right bait. Coming into March peeler crab will fish well and with the right conditions bring better results. Hopton is a good beach and has produced some good catches through the season. tight lines. |
