Re: Conger from the shore - Recommendations?

ive picked up a fair few eels bassing, some even in daylight when the waters really dirty

normally on squid or big crab baits 50lb snoods (thats my bass trace, forget the light stuff here )

but if specifically after eels will use 80-100lb and frozen pout, its good fun , but watch there gobs!!

i just use my normal gear, zziplex 4500s and abu 65s (not a great eel reel)

autumn, early winter good times

even if using heavy beach gear and heavy line there are eels that just aint coming in !!!!

good luck

Re: Conger from the shore - Recommendations?

The reason I mentioned rowing the baits out is in the programme I watched, the catfish they were targetting were well over 100lb and some over 200lb.

Normal coarse or beach gear couldn't possibly cope with that abuse so they were using boat rods/reels.
Rowing out the baits overcomes the lack of casting distance.

I was working on a home made solution until my son asked what the hell I was doing with his radio controlled boat ;0)
