Boating for Cod off Penarth

I seem to be busier than a one toothed man in a corn on the cob eating contest at the moment and as a result hav`nt done much fishing over the holiday period. I hope to be taking my boat out off Penarth on Saturday though(weather permitting). Does anyone know where I might find an inshore mark thats producing at the moment? If so what bait are they taking. My boat is only a small 15fter with a 25hp engine and will be launching from Channel View but can venture as far down as Sully Island probably......is it worth venturing that far?

Re: Boating for Cod off Penarth

I went fishing off Sully Island last Saturday night/Sunday morning.

From the shore there were a handful of conger to around 10lb, one codling, the usual doggies and a whiting.

My fishing buddy called his son who just happened to be fishing on a boat moored a few hundred yards off the point on Sully island. He reported catching some codling, whiting and some early mackerel.

Might be worth a bash off Sully...

EDIT: For bait Sandeel was going down pretty nicely with everything, squid worked well too.
