Cod Around Torbay

I have only ever caught one cod, well codling, and this was when i was flounder fishing off the back beach in teignmouth, this was more luck than judgement!!

I need to know where abouts i could try and catch some cod/codling this autumn or winter around torbay. Is there any good shore marks that produce fish or will i have to travel to chesil beach to try and catch one?

As i have never gone out intentionally trying to catch cod, i wouldnt know where to start regarding best methods, best baits, best time etc

Any help would be very much appreciated

Cheers luke

Re: Cod Around Torbay

Of course you could always try from a boat.

I'm catching codling at the moment from my boat which I launch from Teignmouth. Not huge mind, 3 - 4lbs and not in the numbers we had last year but still OK.

If you, or anyone else, fancy a trip out send me a PM. Only thing is weekends are difficult for me and I usually fish mid week but I could manage a Saturday or 2.

Owen

Re: Cod Around Torbay

Hi Luke ...long time no speak although thats down to me not going fishing for ages.

I heard last night that a Codling af about 3lb was caught off Berry Head, thats all I know, I will be doing some maybe this weekend but not sure what the tides are yet, havent managed to get hold of a tidetable yet.

Ive not been out since the middle of the summer, although Ive been doing alot of shooting instead.

Hope this helps.

Nigel.
