| Re: Newbie question when the rig hits the water and then sea bed the line slackens releasing the bait held under tension in the cast ![]() dave __________________ www.exmouthsaa.co.uk 24 beers in a case and 24 hours in a day simples You won't know unless you go :D...and if you do go!! please let us know :D as thats how the forum thrives |

| Re: Newbie question The most failsafe method of clipping a bait for release is to use breakaways 'impact shields' .. like upside down mushrooms they help keep the bait near the lead which keeps the whole rig streamlined , and therefore improves distance and also protect soft baits such as worms or crab from the impact of hitting the water. The release method relies on water pressure hitting the 'flute' of the body and forcing the shield upwards about 5 mil and pushing the hook from the clip. on recasting , you simply pull the shield back into place and clip the baited hook under it. In my opinion , one of the greatest tackle innovations in decades ![]() __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting |
