Re: for cods sake

Hi, I always find fishing off the beach at blue anchor past the chalets on the bend to Dunster better than off the wall using small baits of squid and lug. I fished blue anchor 2 days ago along with about 200 other anglers and had 1 small conger and a few pout but nothing great, to be honest a change in venue may help you catch cod. Watchet or Minehead are great spots and easy to get to or if you don't mind a short hike over rocky ground then under the watchtower at lilstock is a great cod venue at low water. BUT snaggy.
The most common winter bait used is lug tipped with squid, I use 2 rods one at long range and 1 short range or 1 with a small bait and 1 with a large bait depending on the venue.
Im sure if you keep trying you will end up catching its all about luck on the day being in the right place at the right time but i wish you all the best on catching cod.
