Need Rod Advise

Hi I'm new on here so be gentle,

I am going to start beach fishing around Hopton and down torwards the suffolk coast. I am looking at sea rods and just don't know which one to buy, I've been told to buy a budget rod to start, under £50. One which im looking at is a:

daiwa longbeam 12/13ft surf beach rod £40-50.

Can I ask for some advise, does anyone have one of these?, or can anyone suggest a better rod?.

I will be starting with the overhead casting method, does it make any difference having a 12 or 13ft rod?
