| livebait for cod. i have put a post on the east coast section and in that post it is mentioned that in the thames estuary there have been a fair few incedents this year where an angler is retreaving a whiting when it has been taken by a bigger fish which has then been lost due to the hook not being able to get into the bigger fish.this has happend before but for some unknown reason it seems to be happening a lot more this year.so a lot of local anglers are using live bait for cod .we tried it yesterday but had no luck, but a friend of mine had one of 5lbs not as big as expected but still a fish to a live bait.after uncomfirmed reports of a 48lb fish being caught comercialy in the wallet a while back ,"who knows". |

| Re: livebait for cod. A good way to 'livebait for big fish is to tie a small hook - say a size 4 on a very short piece of line (about 1") to the bottom of a large hook - 4/0 etc, bait the small hook with a small piece of bait and cast out ... theory is a small fish will take the small hook and a BIG fish will take the lot - thus getting caught on the 4/0 ! saves trying to catch & cast a small livebait - BUT - need to be very patient with this method .... __________________ SUPPORT THE RNLI - click : www.rnli.org.uk ... every little helps !
