Re: Sea Fishing For Cod

I have never fished off a boat for cod, so not sure on best bait, but have done a lot shore fishing for them and expect the baits to be pretty much the same just BIGGER. I tend to use 2 or 3 lug tipped with squid, or rag tipped with squid but to be honest if a cod passes your hook it dont matter whats on it, I normally use a pulley rig single hook off rough ground with the worm and squid,or pennel pulley with large squid bait!

Re: Sea Fishing For Cod

Traces 40lb mono, with beads, spinners, muppets. Hooks 6/0-8/0.
Pennel rigs work well alllowing you to present one or two squid.
Bait (yes) squid, calms, peelers, cuttlefish, either cut into strips or baby cuttle from tackle shops, squid works well on its own or as a cocktail with calms/peeler.

Re: Sea Fishing For Cod

double squid on a pennel-rig has always worked for me,i often slip a load of lug up the line as well, just to add to the scent,
