Re: Sea Fishing For Cod

Maybe its just a northern thing ...but the best bait for cod seems to be a 9" length of chrome tubing from a pram frame ...filled with lead and an 0/5 treble ...but then we are a bit ruff and ready up here!

Re: Sea Fishing For Cod

Yes pirks work well (pram handles filled with lead), down here we anchor over

open/ rough ground, as pirks dont work unless on the drift.

Big, small baits all work provided there's a scent trail going, so when your mates are sending down big baits, go for the small stuff it pays off in comps
ask any of the England boat team.

Re: Sea Fishing For Cod

a 3/0 with a mackeral strip has been working well for me, when driffting over rough ground. yet to try perks but they seem to do well in norway. The way cod are getting harder to find, i will try anything and everything in one session as variety is the spice of life. (or so they say) Lets hope the cod agree.

Good hunting Alikroft
