Targets/ goals for 2012 ........

A shiney new year is days away, does anybody have any fishing goals for the coming months..........

I've got a few.......

50 Species in a year ...... Another crack at this ,learnt some valueble lessons this year to hopefully approach it a bit diferasntlyto get to the 50.

Boat....... Beat my Blue Shark PB of 140lb , my first Porbeagle , 2lb plus Garfish on light gear

Shore ...... Double figure Thornback ,15lb plus Blonde, Double figure smoothound 5lb+ Ballan Wrasse and a mullet (any one will do !!! )

just to get out lol have a new club water to fish this year so that should be good some good fish in it to have a go at , and a new baa club card so hitting the rivers more ,,,also to try visit my fave sea fishing venues in north wales more often ,,,a 9 lb bass and tope from the shore would be nice as i have lost 2 in the past , also to go on a boat fishing trip something from my bucket list that one ,,,

Well after 30 years away from fishing in the UK i have decided to give it another go,i have been busy buying a rod,floats,weights,landing and keepnets,hooks,a disgorger,bank sticks rod licence and other bits and bobs in the last couple of weeks,i have even found a mitchel match reel in the shed which i have taken apart and given a quick oil and put back together so when i get back from Thailand to start with anyway i will be venturing down the local cut (grand union canal) each monday and just targeting small roach and perch and if i am lucky maybe a carp or two,The one thing that has amazed me is the price of the bloody chairs which as a fuller figured chap alright then a (F** B******) at a mere 22stone i feel i cannot buy online without trying first so at about £100 looks like its going to be my biggest outlay so far,and as for tackle boxs well things have certainly moved on a bit so i have decided to leave be for the moment and i will just make do with a couple of small tool box type box for the time being,so you never know by the end of Jan i might be able to tell you all how i spent my Mondays freezing my n**s off and catching nothing but a bloody cold but looking forward to getting back into it instead of having to wait 3-4 months at a time before each of my angling adventures in some foreign location

Nice thread Mike. I just want to get out and do some fishing! A double figure smoothound is my main target for 2012 but some prolific river fishing may be a great substitute.

Just to actually get out and do more fishing would be nice.
I used to want nothing but a double Bass, but i will be satisfied just to get out fishing.
If it's double figure smuts your after then get yourself down to Selsey around July.

The 50 species that Mike is doing seems like it's worth a crack

Rob as i'm sure you know it can be hit and miss as with all fishing but if you do fish Selsey you are almost guaranteed to get that double.

Will do mate, my mate Glen got a double off West Beach this year and after watching him land it I just knew I had to have one myself. 2012 will be my year
