Biggest ever Wasp!!!!!

Today this little fella flew in and made the missus mess herself.

It is 2" long from tip to tip.

What do you reckon? I have found something out about it - biggest wasp at the time that I have ever seen.

Re: Biggest ever Wasp!!!!!

Apparantly its a Giant Wood Wasp and not a foreign visitor. Found mainly in Conifer woods and completely harmless with no sting.

So if you happen to have one fly into the house tell you wife not to panic!!!

That'd be like telling me to hold a box of Pingu pies, but not to eat any.

Just not gonna happen.

Still, with a beast that size, at least you'd a actually stand a chance of hitting it with the rolled up news paper.

Re: Biggest ever Wasp!!!!!

I disagree, this is an east german inflating killer wasp and its appearance here is a sign of global warming. They live mainly in Germany and activly hunt humans. Mutiple stings cause the unfortunate human to go into paralysis and the wasps (up to 5000) cover the person apart from their nose and mouth, and then inflate the little pink baloons with hydrogen. This causes the person to be lifted high into the trees where it is glued by workers to a high branch. Then unfortunately the human is kept paralysed with regular stings but no allowed to die.Wasps enter the body through the nose and ears, tunneling deep inside and laying eggs to perpetuate the species.
Interestingly they avoid all organs that would cause sudden death. and the process can last for up to four months.
Ramblers in Germany often notice piles of human excrement under tall trees and can be assured that if they look up they will see the tormented human swinging in the breeze. The German name is Blitscrieg vasp mit balon.
Or it could be what Gilbo said it was.
