Question smoking ban/social /darts /pub etc(almost a month on)a non smokers view

well due too to many reasons havent played darts since the smoking ban came in
tonight during my game(which amazingly i won) there was only myself the other player scorer and marker in the pub!!!!!!!!!!!!!! all others outside for a fag

ok so the air was better , you could also tell all the smokers when they came back in to the clean enviroment, and i could see the board clearly

also when met mate (baggie ) for a beeer couple weeks ago , when he went for a fag i get left on own again in pub (really not his fault)

now ok i'm a non smoker but this ban seems to have ruined the social aspect of going to the pub

its my choice as a non smoker to go to the pub but seemed like a mourge tonight ,and keep being on own as friends "dive out for 1"

how is every one else doing ??????

Re: smoking ban/social /darts /pub etc(almost a month on)a non smokers view

i wonder if they could have done it better
a smoking and a non smoking bar perhaps,or maybe every other pub being a non smoker,
if the government were really serious about the health issues involved with smoking they would have banned it altogether and they would never do that,
the money they rake in from taxes on tobacco must be billions

Its individual states, counties and cities here. Nebraska has banned it in anyplace thet serves food as their main business.
A restaurant that serves liquor = no smoking.
A bar that served food, has to stop selling food to allow smoking inside.
Lincoln, 60 miles south west, banned it in ANY public place.

Re: smoking ban/social /darts /pub etc(almost a month on)a non smokers view

i was wondering perhaps , what designates an enclosed public space?

ie, if i had an establishment, and opened it as' geejayys private smokers club '

registered members only, non smokers welcome to join but enter at own risk,

beer + spirits might also be availiable on the premises as per darts/pool/ shove ha'penny etc etc,

if it were a strictly members only establishment then perhaps it could not be regarded as a public space.

but i bet the powers that be have sealed that loophole somehow

Re: smoking ban/social /darts /pub etc(almost a month on)a non smokers view

As a fellow non-smoker and the fact that we've had the ban in place for over a year up here I do appreciate not coming back from a night out coughing my lungs up and my clothes and hair stinking of smoke HOWEVER I DO NOT appreciate the fact that all you can smell in a pub now is how manky it is!!
Stale alcohol, people's sweaty pits and people's bums ( stand back from the Guinness drinkers) and even occassionally the toilets - eughh!!!!
Sat near the gents - we're talking maybe 20 feet away - in the Black Bull in Killearn one night and someone was obviously ill in there because JEEZ!!! It nearly put me off my Whyte 'N Mackay - nearly not quite tho hee hee
I also get a bit lonely as generally my nights out are me and my big sis going to our other sisters gig's. One sis smokes and the other is the DJ - cut to me sittin like Billy no - mates in the corner with mad jakes approaching me and me tellin them to f'off!!
So a word to the wise guys make sure you have a wash and some windeze before entering a pub now and all the gorgeous women will be flocking around you - coz every one else stinks!!!

Re: smoking ban/social /darts /pub etc(almost a month on)a non smokers view

some of the regulations are just plain daft,
smoking has been banned at my warehouse for ages and they provided a sort of bus shelter in the car park for the smokers to use,
now with these new regulations they have taken the glass out of the sides so that it is not an enclosed space, how silly is that

Re: smoking ban/social /darts /pub etc(almost a month on)a non smokers view

The lads at work can only smoke before their shift, in their official meal break and after their shift now. Before the ban they had their own room with TV and drinks machine. Now they have to smoke outside (next to the air conditioning machine of all places!). Being a non smoker this has had no effect on me but being the shift manager I now have to keep an eye on them to stop them going for a sly one!

Re: smoking ban/social /darts /pub etc(almost a month on)a non smokers view

i think its great that pubs are smoke free. but i do agree with pingu about mates going out for one can get a bit dull, also why do they seem to take so long? i think fishin widow has a point too, cant the pubs get some air freshener? i went to our local nightclub last week and all you could smell was puke......classy.
