Catfish tactics for Cobbleacre

Well, I've made a few quick drawings in paint of the tactics I'll be using too try and winkle out a few kittens.

Sorry that pics are naff, looked ok until I had too turn them too JPG.

Here's the 1st one (Consists of; 15lb mainline, 25lb hooklink, 1.5oz in-line lead, SSG shot, size 2 hook, 2 20mm halibut pellets, 1 piece of cork, loads of 10mm halibut pellets)




The other idea will be pretty much the same, but instead of halibut pellets about 5 lobworms

What do you think, look good enough for a cat too eat??

a friend of mine goes down to the butchers and gets some blood,he mixes it into some groundbait among some other gooey stuff,
he chucks the whole lot in at the start of the session.

So maybe your'e on the right track Dan. I still go for bait with lots of blood in it. Why not try a swim feeder with a sponge inside that has been soaked in glug. You could even change the type of glug...Eels blood, Liver blood etc.

When I used to match fish, in the winter leagues I would use this method to great effect for eels, only on a smaller scale. It took my match pals ages to work out why I was so consistent

Cut it into really long strips Eel like so to speak

Essentially its not a "Dead Fish Bait" is it

Cheaper than Boiles mate. Why not use bait elastic that we use in /sea fishing to "bind it" to the hook?

I'd certainly give it a try Dan. Are Catfish so sensitive that you have to hair rig it?

If they hunt by scent and smell your bait from miles away do they feed like carp when they find it? Just a thought

Well, they're very active predators and they'll travel all around the lake in order too search for food, but don't like resistance!!!

I could fish 1 rod with the halibut rig, and my other rod with the liver, the possibilites are endless
