Wels catfish - UK!

Hi all.

Going out for some cats near the end of this month, for a night, and was wondering what sort of bait would be best.

No deadbaits allowed, so was thinking leeches, fishy boilies and big halibut pellets.

What do you lot who fish for them think?

Re: Wels catfish - UK!

Cheers Paul. I have squid and octopus boilies, thinking they could be a killer

Although they're only 15mm, would probaly need too mount about 4 on a hair (atleast). May see if I can get some 20mm

Talking Re: Wels catfish - UK!

A lake in the Bristol area has several American Catfish in it and they are generally caught on Eel deadbait. They are on my hit list for later

So maybe eel boilies or something like that? or perhaps luncheon meat soaked in Fishy glug prior to casting out?

Re: Wels catfish - UK!

I could get some salmon oil or something...would that work as a glug do you think?

Wink Re: Wels catfish - UK!

I would say something like Halibut oil or Sardine Oil...something very strong and pungent with a lasting scent
