madnbri is on a distinguished road
bait casting for catfish

Hello, I've looked for a strong and really short fishing tackle to spin for catfish and found bait casting rods this way. Those are short and hard (about 2m long with a max weight of bait 100g or much heavier - I prefer about 100g, question about this later) and built for multiplier reels. Almost nobody uses multiplier reels, where I live, that's why I cannot ask anybody about usable tackles from this brand. I know: "your friend is google" and I used of course, but fishing tackles are really expensive, therefore I have to ask before buying. I found some info on the internet and somebody suggested ABU GARCIA Ambassadeur 7000i C3 CT MAG. I read descriptions, specifications and… seen a picture. Ups! Most (maybe all) of spinning multipliers has got drilled spool to fix the line against this one. It has got a little pin to do. I became ambiguous. The drilled spool needs to get clean line profile (not only this one is needed, but needed). This helps to drop a long distance or high close. High close is most important to me, this is the main reason, why I'm looking for a really short rod (the other one I came to like multipliers after buying one to another way of fishing). My questions:
  • Is this reel producted really for spinning?
  • If not: can anybody suggest another one with about 15lb braking drag power?
  • Extra q: My water is highly blocked with small (4-5lb) and big (more 10kgs) catfishes. They uses blocks to escape of course. What do you think about max. 100g (3-4oz) rods? Is it enough?
Thanks for answers. Regards, m
