| Brew time bites and hard lessons learnt well went on a pussy hunt on tues -thurs got to lake tues afternoon drew out our pegs i drew the peg that was a flyer on our last trip but there was someone in it ,help set other lads up and had to wait till 8pm to get in my swim 8-8 tickets on lake so i got my rods in asap whilst i made camp. one rod baited wiyh 2x16mm halibuts cast to a overhanging willow and other with 2x 20mm sardine and anchovie boiles cast to some lillys. got settled down for a brew kettle did its trick 2 bleeps on pellet rod and nowt else, so left it 30 mins and re-cast . went to bed and had nothing through the night woke up at 6:30 rebaited and recast both rods kettle on guess what screamer on boilies after a nice 10 min scrap a cat of 23lb 11oz was my prize after about 15 mins of one hell of a battle a cat of 16lb 6oz came kicking an screaming to the net . Sat the rest of the day biteless went to bed at about 9:30pm was woken up by a one tonner scrambled out of my bivvy hit the run very light fish on other end short fight and a 9lb carp in net . Back to bed just settled down and another screamer hit this whilst it was still screaming and nothing there gutted was woken once more during night for carp of around 6lb. woke up on thurs morning re cast both rods ten mins later pellet rod was away again after a short battle a 14lb 4oz cat was on the bank . nothing else all day until my pal shouts over "KETTLES BOILED!!!" so i started walking round cup in hand got about 20 yards from my swim and the inevetable happens BLEEEEEEEEEP i sprinted as fast as i can which aint that fast lol picked up into the run and felt some thing like i have never felt before this is the one i thought it headed for the reeds clutch screaming rod doubled i could not slow it down never mind stop and turn it as it reached the reed bed i saw a tail of what must have been one of the daddys (lake holds a few 40's and 50's lake record is 63)that the last i saw of it ,and the last of the action for our trip so i had a good time and learnt a lesson the hard way i know next time no matter how tempting a brew is i aint leaving my swin even for a min |
