Re: catfishing

Lost in Iowa, last time I went out was this past Saturday. The biting was pretty consistant, only caught one perch and it was a keeper. I kept missing the hits, my timing was sucking bad. But at least it was nice weather and some good bites.

Re: catfishing

are tha catfish ova in the US the same as ours, no teeth but abrasive pads? coz if so then thatcould be why ure losing so many fish, ive known little cats to just rub through 20lb mono, when cat fishing now i stick to braid or wire (sounds a bit extreme but it works) what are nightcrawlers? are they a kind of cricket? chicken livers/pigs livers/sheeps kidney do the trick for me:P sometimes I'll use a small livebait near the surface.

Re: catfishing

Catfish do have teeth buddy, they're just really fine and curved towards its stomach. When I say fine, it means they're a really small row just inside of the lip, you'll be able to feel them but shouldn't have any problems sticking your hand in there. Not like they'll draw blood like a pike, walleye, or muskie can, not that kind of a toothy critter. Where do you get your pigs liver or sheep kidney? Do you just go to a farm or butcher shop for that in your neck of the woods?

Re: catfishing

Hey Jason, I hear burbots fight pretty good. Do you target them and if so what do you use to target them?

Re: catfishing

I've never seen one in person, dead, alive, in captivity or in the wild, but I hear you can catch them from time to time depending on where your fishing in my region. Never hurts to experiment
