Re: catfishing

Hi every one how is the fishing going? I haven't been out much. I got stuck in the hospital for a week That bites BUT I did talk to my old fishing buddy and plan on taking this next saturday off and fish all day and all night Like the good old days. The DNR is going to drain 12 mile lake this summer so they waved the regulations except Iowa fishing licens. NO size limits, bag limits you can use more than 2 poles ecttalk abuot kool.

Re: catfishing

Lost In Iowa, I wish Michigan will give us a break like that. I could've used a couple extra poles in the water yesterday the way the perch, gills, pumpkinseeds, and other panfish were biting at where I was at.

Re: catfishing

HaHaHa send some of that luck my way sounds like you had some good luck up there. The only reson they are giving us a brake is the lake is over run by yellow bass and they want to kill them out wich incudes all the rest to. The DNR will come back and restock the lake later. So is this the hot time up there or just a luck streak. The pan fish should start the end of the month here.

Re: catfishing

Actually is early to be catching the panfish unless you're on an inland lake, but the sun was up and no clouds, and I was in a channel that leads to Lake Erie. Really was a mixed bag, caught a shiner, 4 yellow perch, a rock bass, two pumpkinseeds, and an 11 1/2" largemouth (which I caught jigging). Only ones I threw back was the largemouth, one perch, and the shiner.

Re: catfishing

The fishing out here has been picking up some here lately. I had a few bites Monday morning and only had a bullhead caught, about a 10 incher. Did have a pretty good perch on but he fought himself off. Friend of mine caught a 23" northern, a 24" would have been the legal minimum to keep, and had another one on the line that broke itself off. He also caught a couple perch and had a largemouth on that fought itself off. A few other people where I've been fishing have caught perch and bluegill. One guy caught about a five pound flathead. Can't complain on the biting.

Re: catfishing

I don't have any way of putting up pictures, otherwise I would. Nothing to brag about this past afternoon, Tuesday afternoon that is, all I caught was little perch and bluegills. Nothing to brag about, but somebody where I was fishing caught a good sized sheephead, I'd guess-timate at it being about six pounds.
