Re: Baits for cats

I have some mice in the freezer, after last winters attemps to gain access to the house, courtesy of the trap. They should be good for cats.

Re: Baits for cats

Hi Fullcreel!
How are you doing?
I am from Germany and started my catfishseason on April. The last three month, I have cought 5 catfish in the river Rhein. The bait, which I used were 20 worms on a circle hook and bait fish like a carp or zander on a special hooksystem. Last year, I had also catched a catfish on a half chicken. And this ist not an joke!!!! ;-)

Re: Baits for cats

Hi

We usually use live or dead minnows,Live minnows, especially large or extra large are a good bait all year round. The only drawback is that you will catch as many bass, or maybe more, as catfish. Most serious catmen kill their minnows just before they put them on the hook for this reason. They can be used under a bobber in shallow water in spring and summer as well as drift fishing in semi deep to deep water all year long. Minnows are available at only a few baitshops in the area so check my list of bait and tackle shops and call them to see if they're available.

I plan to fish a mackerel dead bait on the bottom on the weekend. I've never fished for Catfish before, any tips on the best way to rig it up?
