Catfish at Anglers Paradise

Hello,

My Family and I are heading off to Anglers Paradise around mid August and being from Northern Ireland it will be the first time that i will have had a crack at catching a catfish. I would just like a bit of help getting started:

I have read on forums and books about halibut pellets, boilies and meat being fished on a hair rig tight against the bottom, I would have probably opted for a deadbait but seeing they are not permitted i will have to scrap that idea. I was just wondering is this right way to approach this species or do i need to do something different.I was hoping to do a spot of night fishing for them as i reckon that will give me the best chance to catch one, at least all the fishing programs that i watch on tv seem to make me beleive this.

Truthfully im really not confident about cathing one as i dont have the knowledge of the species so any help will be apprecieated,

Blackwater

Re: Catfish at Anglers Paradise

I caught my first Catfish last Tuesday after work on a 15mm hair rigged Halibut Pellet coated in Halibut paste together with a PVA bag full of Halibut Pellets.
It was my first so I am hardly an expert at catching them but it shows they like Halibut Pellets and can be caught during daylight (well early evening light anyway).
Good luck and let us know how you got on.

Talking Re: Catfish at Anglers Paradise

I caught my first one last year. Having spent two nights fishing for Cats, this one was caught around midday in scorching hot sunshine on a bunch of worms... One can only assume Catfish don't read rulebooks.....

Re: Catfish at Anglers Paradise

Sorry not for letting you all now how i got on at Anglers Paradise My computer has been down since the end of August.

Unfortunately i did not land any catfish in a 24hr session but i did enjoy the experience.

I did catch plenty of carp up to 8lb and golden tench to 3lb.

I will be reporting on Anglers Paradise Within the next week

Cheers,

BW

Re: Catfish at Anglers Paradise

The lakes at Anglers Paradise are of the very highest quality, most of which can be reached along purpose-built pathways and there are now six pagoda shelters. The journalists from the nation's press, radio and television who regularly visit Anglers Paradise confirm in their articles and features that they prefer these lakes above all others, as do our guests who return time after time after time. All the lakes have been planted with water lilies of various colours and rare water plants. The main holiday lakes are solely for guests. 12 glorious lakes that are home to Carp nudging forty pounds, Wels Catfish now over sixty pounds, double figure Koi Carp and Golden Orfe and Tench over eight pounds.

There is something for everyone, whether beginner or specimen angler there are fish and lakes that will test your ability.

For Residents the budget fishing permit is :-
£20 per week for one rod
£30 per week for 2 rods
Specimen lakes and night fishing are extra to the budget ticket

Easily accessed via concrete paths there are now six lakes with purpose designed Pagoda shelters. Watch out for the new Predator Lakes!
In addition to the main holiday lakes at Anglers Paradise, there are purpose designed match lakes at Anglers Shangri-la capable of holding 100 anglers and open to angling clubs.

Two Trout lakes home to five species of Trout, fly only, catch and release and our day ticket complex of four lakes at Anglers Eldorado home to Carp and Wels Catfish to twenty pounds plus all other coarse fish varieties.

The Trout Lakes and Predator Lakes are open to non residents.

Re: Catfish at Anglers Paradise

Well worth the drive and yours is only a small drive compared to mine i had to get a 2 hour boat journey and travel down in car whilst stopping for two over night stays so count your self lucky you live on the UK mainland
