simple d rig

i don,t put alot of technical stuff on here and a couple of weeks a go i was talking to fishypaul and i showed him a simple d rig this got me thinking that i ought to show other this very simple rig .

stage 1 firstly you will need some hooks ,rings ,swivel , bait bands and braid or mono of your choice and lastly a pair of scissors just to show you easerly i have used some magic marker
stage 2 and stage 3 tie a three turn grinner knot onto the shank and pull tight i do mine level with the point then thread a small ring onto the line down to the hook

stage 4 and stage 5 thread line through eye of hook and then do 4 to 7 turns back up the shank i like to do 7 myself but its up to you
stage 5 now push line back through the eye on the point side and attach the swivel

stage 6 now attach a bait band to the ring

stage 7 now you are ready to attach your favourite bait be it a bottom bait or pop up or any other bait you wish like corn if you take the band of you could attach one of the lattest maggot clips and turn it in to a very effective maggot rig this accounted for my recent small cat in france

i hope this is useful to some out there as you can see its very simple and very effective

tightlines

Nice post mate, I'll have to invest in the bits I need and start making.

Another great tip Kev. I've got a lot to learn about this carp rig stuff.

Re: simple d rig

Nice one Kev, I was wondering how the D Rig worked and how it was set up.

Re: simple d rig

Thats what that rig was that we found at Todber last weekend Steve. I wondered why it had a metal ring on the hookshank.

Re: simple d rig

its the rig i use 75% of my carp fishing now either pop ups or bottom baits especially abroad

and when its landing me fish of this calibre its hardly surprising i use it so much

if i,m not catching i,m more likely to change swims than rig

these should get you who are going france excited

Re: simple d rig

thanks Kevin

quick question, do you just loop the bait band through the ring and back through itself then through the bait and use a bait stop?

Mike
