I use a Needle knot to join the leadcore to main line as its neater than a slpiced loop. At the other end i use a 3 turn bloodknot to join the leadcore to swivels, quicklinks etc. If your unfamiliar with how to tie a needle knot then follow this link and there's and animated version................... http://www.toasteds.co.uk/splicing_leadcore.htm

Re: lead core - attaching to main line What rig are you using the leadcore for? I use it for my chod and critically balanced bottom baits. If I'm using a chod rig I will attach it to the main line via a polamar not or figure of eight. I would never use a swivel or ring as this would stop the hooklink coming of the leadcore if I snapped the main line or got snagged. Just think rig safety. tj

re your previous post : "I would never use a swivel or ring as this would stop the hooklink coming of the leadcore if I snapped the main line or got snagged" A choddy shouldn't have a swivel or ring on it. I cant imagine how you use this rig with either of these componants as there not part of the rig, other that a ring swivel with is obviously for the hooklength. |

Re: lead core - attaching to main line I know that. The guy asked on knots to attach. But it depends on the rig he is using the lead core for. I.E. Chod or straight bottom bait. That's why I asked the question of rig use. When I use a chod rig on my lead core the multi link where the lead is attached is cut in half and the lead tied on with 3lb line. The link will take the force of the cast. If the lead should snagged the 3lb link will break easily. Two small sinkers with rubber beads hold the rig in place. If I should get a line break then the whole lot will slide of the lead core so the carp will have a 3 inch hook link and not meters of leadcore. Sorry if my previous posts confused you. tj

Re: lead core - attaching to main line Why do you use a 3lb "rotten bottom" link.... are you fishing near snags, weed or pads?

Re: lead core - attaching to main line so, when you have pre made lead core rigs with a small loop on the end, then how do you connect it to your main line?
