Pop-ups

I have yet to catch on a pop up, i was just wondering how people fish their pop ups. What i meen is what sort of depth do you set the rig up to, 1" of the bottom or 10 inches of the bottom? How succsessful have the rigs been.

Your advice would be very welcome.

I'm the same Steve! Not a touch have I had on them!

I usually set mine that the bait is about 1ft/1.5ft off the bottom.

Ive Been Watching Some Videos On YouTube To Do With The Fox Zig Rig Float As Im Looking At Getting A Couple, And Most Of The Videos Are Setting Them Up At 3ft Minimum. Ive Only Had A Couple Of Takes This Season On Pop Ups Both Being Just 3" Of The Bottom. Using Just A BB Shot To Keep It Down.

Ive Still Got A 1.5oz Lead But Im Not Popping Up The Pop Up Off The Lead. I Place The BB Shot 3" From The Hook.

99.99% of my baits are fished balanced , using lead wire stuck in the boilie ,with just enougt lift to make the hook bend rest on the lake bed ,

this method had produced hundreds of fish for me over the yrs .,

if i want to use a plain pop up i lift it about 2 in .
10 inches it then becomes a zig

Bi Steve lime nick said, a popes up bait needs to be critically balanced. You want the hook falling to the lake bed nice and slow so it moves in the water and attract the carp attention.

There is no rule of thumb to how far the are poped up. If zig fishing an adjustable float set up is best. This way you can either start at the bottom or top and adjust a foot every 30 mins till you find what depth the carp are at.

I also like to use a pop up at night prefabley a White one. Have had good success.
