Pop up?

Ok sounds a bit of a noob question but it isnt honestly
been having a crack with pop ups recently (18 mm) just to get set for the winter (plans to fish single high attract high viz boilies but thats a diffrent story) anyway when you put the counter balance on the say braid hooklink ar your aiming just to nail it down and go for a bolt effect from a overweight of rig putty (prick the carp) or counter balance it as delicatly as possible?
if its the later could you run through roughly the size of shot to counter the size of boily that works for you!
ive experimented with this but on this issue thers always doubt doubt and a little more doubt with me! i might be over complicating things, ive got a bit of OCD as far as my fishing gose i swear,

thanks for any help gents!

Hi mate

i normally use solder wire to counter balance my baits ,
If your using shot then a bb should do it

Re: Pop up?

I always test my rigs in the margins first. I've been having success on fake corn as it's boyent fished over a particle bed too corn to a number 4 if that helps.

Re: Pop up?

see now i have never done any good on pop ups or fake corn

so my advice is probably rubbish ... but for what its worth.. i would use a bit of putty on the hook length .. if i was counterbalancing i would use a cork stick in a normal boilie i think its better to add buoyancy to a ''natural boilie'' than it is too use a boilie that floats and is made of something slightly different..

but however like i say i dont do any good with pop ups so i wouldnt really listen to me
