new to making rigs, quick question. Hi all, just registerd tonight so be gentle, im in my 2nd season of fishing (mainly carp) I have recently bought a shed load of rig making stuff, I must of spent a good £150! anyway im practising alot and reading alot, taking it slow and going to test my rigs bankside, my maybe stupid question is this..... I have started to use all sorts of brai as opposed to mono as its a hell of alot easier to work with!!! well I find anyway!! but.... surley carp can see braid!!!!!!???????????????/ I mean its no mono is it, just wondering what your thoughts are??? and also if anyone has a good method feeder anti-tangle rig im all ears ;-) ive tried using shrink tube on my hooklength, I usually cast pendulum style where my fave pond is as its much easier to be accurate etc, yes I know im crap lol. Cheers guys.

Re: new to making rigs, quick question. Mono is the most effective rig material there is , dont get pulled in by all this must have braid hook links can not see how you get tangled on the method as your hook is buried in the bait that is molded around the feeder, Pendulum cast more accurate , disagree 100% on that

Re: new to making rigs, quick question. Hi, I tied afew rigs using esp 15lb ghost & 15 esp soft ghost, both are very stiff and I find it difficult to make the hair's etc, with braid (using suffix 15lb magician) its much easier and they look great, nice and supple etc but you gota be thinking 'hold on the fish must see this braid' so you arnt a convert to braid then?? ive never been the best at casting, there are always guys fishing when I go and they get there bag on if I start practise casting!! I love the preston method mould but when useing a bigger bait or meat it tends to stick to the cage etc, I wanted to try the method but without having my bait inside the mix, Thanks for your reply.

Re: new to making rigs, quick question. if using stiff hook links use a D link and tie the baits on ![]() after you have taken the hair length through the eye just blob it with a lighter

Re: new to making rigs, quick question. use short hooklengths 2-3", using a baiting needle makes tying the hair loops easier. dont worry about the fish seeing the line too much, hell i have used 50lb red amnesia to tie rigs and have caught on them.

Re: new to making rigs, quick question. I will have to look up at how to make a D rig ;-) I know fish cant be that botherd about braid as if it wasent succesful it wouldent sell and they wouldent make it, plus its bloody dear!! the amount of times I have messed up a rig during the making of it , sat there and thought that just cost me 3 quid lol!!! as stated I am new to making rigs so I guess I can be forgiven! the waters I fish are quite pressured so it can be difficult to catch and that can get very frustrating, especially on a cold day ;-) ive just sent off for some silky smooth suffix braid and a coated braid which I can strip, im thinking instead of using tubing the stiff unstripped braid will surfice! you can prob tell me different mind! I would just strip the bit I tie to the hook and swivil. Thnks guys
