Tackle shops vs Ebay

Personally i prefer tackle shops even though some of the workers can be arrogant- due to the fact you dont have to pay P&P charges- though i picked up various bargains on E BAY- i.e- rods, reels & bite alarm. just wondered what others thought?

Re: Tackle shops vs Ebay

Well, you can physically touch, hold and see what your buying in a tackle shop, how ever I have seen one tackle shop man who was selling to lady buying carp kit for her son, flog her all kinds of stuff which the lad would not need.
I use e-bay for oddities and rarities, which I'm not likely to find in a shop. Handmade floats the odd peice of cane etc.
Its down to us as indiviuals to suss out tackle dealers for the credibility, there are 3 near me, I won't go into one, the other I may buy something but will ignore the yoofs who work there and finally the one I do like, who understands its wise not to BS customers and when reporting on local fishing be able to differnetiate between gossip and known fact.

You can get some bargins, but like a carboot sale, you can never be quite sure if the stuff your buying is not nicked?

2 friends used to have tackle shops both folded because of mail order and ebay quite simply they couldnt compete .myself i use both, why .cos i want to. its no good bleating the local tackle shops going down and then ordering stuff of mail order or ebay then going to tackle shop just for worms or bait its this competive world we live in it happens get over it

Re: Tackle shops vs Ebay

In most cases I buy from local tackle shops, but recently I have bought some spinners/spoons on evil bay, because of the value offered.
